The Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, deputy prime minister of Cuba, evaluated on Thursday the capitalizable partial repair process of block two at the 'Lidio Ramón Pérez' Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), in Felton, in the province of Holguín.

He knew that this process undertaken on March 2 is in the assembly phase of the turbine to recover the power of the block with an estimated 220 megawatts (MW), reach the nominal parameters of the boiler and increase the reliability of the block to reduce unforeseen outputs.

During the meeting with specialists from the plant, Valdés Menéndez was informed of how much remains for the definitive synchronization of the block.

He also assessed the organizational and material assurance to guarantee, with the required quality and within the agreed deadlines, the entry into operation of the unit that will help reduce the blackouts.

In this way, he insisted on working for the stability of the block, achieving precision in each of the processes carried out, which saves time and guarantees better results, later reverted into a stable and sustained generation.

Valdés Menéndez toured the CTE where he learned about the assembling process of the gas ducts to the chimney, the air preheaters, the condenser coating and the coolers of water, as well as the repair work of the oven floor.

For his part, Livan Arronte, Minister of Energy and Mines, underlined the need for synchronization of this unit with the National Electroenergetic System, scheduled for the first days of July, which implies a generation capacity of nearly 500 MW, between the two thermoelectric blocks for the summer stage.

He noted the importance of working effectively to reduce and shorten repair times, while achieving unity between technical and maintenance processes.

On his visit, Valdés Menéndez was accompanied by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the province and Julio César Estupiñán Rodríguez, Governor of Holguín, among other officials.
