The XII International Conference Wefla 2018, an event on foreign languages, communication and culture of the University of Holguin (UHo) with the support of foreign universities, began this April 26 at its usual headquarters, the Club Amigo Atlantico-Guardalavaca hotel in the north eastern coast of Cuba.
In the opening ceremony, Dr.C. Reynaldo Velázquez Zaldívar, rector of the UHo, welcomed more than 200 foreign and national participants in the event and highlighted the 20 years of friendship and professional collaboration promoted by Wefla.

He commented on the advances in the continuous training of professionals, technological innovation and university extension and highlighted the realization of the event as an achievement of the UHo, which became a space for scientific and cultural exchange, as well as the seminar on Canadian Studies.

Vilma Páez Pérez and Jeff Tenant, organizers of the event, offered an opening lecture on the 20 years of Wefla in the internationalization of the university, in which they addressed a brief overview of its creation and development. The occasion also fostered the recognition of participants who regularly participate in the event.

The agenda also included the presentation of papers related to foreign language teaching, teachers training, translation, interpretation and linguistic studies.
