The Holguín Turquino Plan, created by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on June 2, 1987, celebrates its 35th anniversary with a varied program of activities.
In this regard, a press team visited various state institutions and productive forms of the People’s Councils of El Jobo and El Sitio, in the mountainous municipality of Sagua de Tánamo.
"Productive, political and cultural activities, for the benefit of the residents of the five Holguín municipalities belonging the Turquino Plan, are being developed to dignify the life of the peasantry in these hard-to-reach areas," explained José Antonio Agüero Zaldívar, secretary of the Provincial Commission of the Turquino Plan program.
In the tour, visitors met with workers of the Servicios Comunales group in that territory, to learn about their work during the period of confrontation with COVID-19, and how they contribute to the daily life of the mountainous society.
They also visited the Mariana Grajales polytechnic center and the Luis Artemio Carbó school, with the aim of witnessing the training processes of students of El Jobo community, institutions that focus their teaching program on agricultural activity.
In the Sagua de Tánamo Agroforestry Company, the visitors were interested in the main indicators of the atypical coffee harvest, which, for the first time, did not have the support of mobilized working forces to harvest the grain.
At this time, the coffee plantations are getting ready to start the next harvest, in which it is planned to collect more than 1,325 tons, and maintain stability in the rise of production.
