The government's effort to bring science to agriculture will be achieved in Holguín with the links between the sector's entities and the University.
One of the projects of this educational institution is aimed at increasing the sugarcane populations in the more than two thousand hectares so far benefited by the East-West WaterTransfer, whose investments are associated with the sugar sector.
The alliance created between the Azcuba Business Group, the National Sugar Cane Research Institute (Inica) and the University of Holguín, will allow improving drainage, automation of irrigation systems, as well as their maintenance and repair.
It will also address the demand and contracting of sugarcane production, as well as the living conditions in the settlements where the agricultural workers who attend the plantations reside.
Sergio Guillén Sosa, director of Inica, said they are ready to share knowledge on parcel irrigation, carry out a test to condition a central pivot irrigation machine and offer the results on the use of drones in studies of agricultural areas.
