Holguín: Advance towards the prosperity of the country

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, said on Friday in Holguín that the province has managed the confrontation with COVID-19 well, although it requires reinforcing measures to stop the increase in positive cases in recent days.

In a meeting held in Holguín by the secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba with political and governmental authorities of the province, it was evaluated the implementation of the agreements of the 8th Congress, held in April of this year and the actions being developed in the country to stop the levels of contagion from the pandemic and strengthen economic and social development programs.

Given the people's expectation about how the Party will lead society to get out of this situation, he said: “We will fight with the idea that we are not only going to survive, but that we are resisting, as we have done in other moments, in a creative manner, which means resisting, but at the same time continuing to advance, without stopping and without renouncing the prosperity of the country as is present in the vision of the socialist construction of the nation”.

The Cuban president also recalled the harmful effects of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba, but affirmed that he has the potential in his people to reverse the effects and demonstrate to the world the value of the Cuban Revolution in its transformation processes into the different spheres of national life, including safe vaccination processes against the pandemic.

During the meeting, the president of the National Association of Small Farmers in the territory, Amaury Velázquez Zaldívar, explained that the directors of the organization know that the work should be aimed at improving care for the men who work in the fields, face the crimes and illegalities, support the hiring processes of productions and promote more young people and women to management positions in the productive forms.

When specifying the work of the Party based on food production, José Ramón Monteagudo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and head of the Agrifood department, insisted on the concept of producing with our own efforts, in the shortest possible time and without external dependencies, therefore, the need on the use of science and innovation and the use of bio-products and agroecology.

Jorge Luis Broche, also a member of the Central Committee Secretariat and head of its Department of Education, Sports and Science, highlighted the Higher Education system in the province, with a prominent presence in economic and social life, and recalled challenges to win, including raising relations with business entities in the agricultural sector and consolidating the training of veterinarians and agricultural engineers and promoting industrial processes, because they are key activities for territorial development.

For his part, Joel Queipo, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee to attend to the Economic sphere, spoke in favor of good practices in production centers, factories and industries, while he praised the role of the Party nuclei in promoting economic activity.

Queipo spoke on the necessary attention to issues such as the Ordering Task through monitoring the proposals of the population; the confrontation with abusive prices; the fight against inflation and the necessary increase in employment in the productive sector.

In summarizing the meeting, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez reiterated: “We have to multiply everything that is efficient, inspiring and emancipatory, which implies discarding everything that is bureaucratic and represents obstacles, emphasizing at the same time that we can confront the blockade and fracture the restrictions imposed by the Trump administration and maintained by the Biden administration without any variation. "

"It is also the way to confront the enormous campaign of ideological political subversion to discredit the Revolution and fracture the unity between the Party, the Government and the people."
