Holguín scientific associations recognized nationwide

The Holguín network of scientific associations, despite the situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, showed relevant results at national level in 2020 due to its achievements and management models.

The provincial branch of the Cuban Society of Information Sciences (SOCICT) was recognized as the best in the country. It stands out for his contributions to the Expociencia events; its collaboration with the Oriente Norte branch of the Cuban Academy of Sciences; its management model; and the delivery of the Provincial Prize for Information Sciences, a laureate officially instituted only in Holguín.

Leonardo Nieves Cruz, specialist for Science, said to the digital newspaper ¡ahora! that the Economic Society Friends of the Country (SEAP) here was also chosen as the best on the Island. It is the only provincial chapter with its own serial publication: the Holguín’s Bimestre Bulletin, whose editions are available on the national websites of the SEAP and the Citma Delegation.

As for the National Union of Architects and Construction Engineers of Cuba (UNAICC), based in this northeastern province, the largest contributions were directed to urban development issues.

On the other hand, the Cuban Society for the Promotion and Use of Renewable Sources of Energy and Environmental Respect (CUBASOLAR) works to identify the potential of the FRE in the programs of solar heaters, wind energy, photovoltaic program (systems synchronized to the National Power System and isolated systems) and biogas.

These projects are carried out at the Dairy Industry, Cervecería BUCANERO, six Pig Farming Centers with three thousand or more pigs each, and sugar mills, among other entities.
