The province of Holguín reports 12 imported positive cases to COVID-19, of which two patients have recovered and the rest remain active. Nine of them are admitted to hospitals in Havana and one to the Lucía Íñiguez Landín surgical hospital in the eastern province.
According to information from the Public Health Directorate in Holguín, 325 rapid tests were carried out here as part of the active research to detect possible cases of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. In addition, active research was performed to some 240,000 people, more than a hundred of them with acute respiratory infections, but none suspected of the disease.
In total, 66 PCR samples were studied yesterday, all negative. Today, the province has one positive case admitted, 9 suspect cases and 110 in surveillance centers. Travelers arriving from abroad are serving quarantine in Havana.
In the “Lucía Íñiguez” clinical-surgical hospital and Octavio de la Concepción de la Pedraja pediatric hospital of Holguín, there are areas set up with 27 and 24 beds, respectively, for the admission of confirmed cases, while Villa El Cocal has 50 beds prepared for suspected cases, for a total of 101 in the province, where the measures established in the Minsap protocols against the pandemic are maintained.
Meanwhile, 456 travelers from various provinces, including 325 from Havana, remain under surveillance.
The fact that Holguín goes through the Third Post COVID-19 Recovery Phase after 96 days (May 5 to August 11) without confirmed autochthonous cases of COVID-19, cannot lead anyone to think that it is exempt from the danger of becoming ill.
