Although the province of Holguín has not reported positive cases to COVID-19 for 63 days, health authorities in the territory maintain epidemiological control and ensure correct compliance with sanitary measures in the current recovery stage.
Dr. Yanelis Calviño Vega, head of the command post of the Provincial Health Directorate, said at press conference that surveillance for Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) is carried out, mainly in high-risk areas and work centers by the influx of people.
Likewise, she said, between 60 and 80 tests are processed daily, which have been negative so far; in addition, they continue with active investigations in the population.
She noted that as part of the provisions established for the second phase of the first stage post-COVID-19, external consultations were restored at 75 percent in the healthcare centers.
As for arboviruses, she explained that the province maintains an infestation index above 1, without transmission, but with a high risk, and the municipalities of Banes, Urbano Noris and Mayarí present the most complex situation.
The doctor insisted on the importance of covering the tanks to store water, carry out actions of environmental sanitation, the autofocal and the adulticidal treatment or fumigation to eliminate the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
