Reproductive Health, Major Concern for Specialists in Holguin

With the aim to promote professional exchange among obstetricians and gynecologists from the eastern Cuban provinces, as well as to assess procedures to follow and unify criteria in women's care, the province of Holguin will host the Territorial Day of Obstetrics and Gynecology from September 25 to 27, with headquarters at the V.I. Lenin university hospital.
The main topics to be discussed are related to maternal-fetal and perinatal medicine, obstetric violence, extremely serious maternal morbidity, current diagnosis in obstetrics and gynecology.
Aspects related to sexual and reproductive health, management of the infertile couple, climacteric, menopause and pelvic floor disorders, pathology of the lower genital tract, colposcopy and high resolution anoscopy and oncological gynecology, among others, will also be discussed in the meeting.
The agenda includes conferences by recognized professors, coordinated discussion tables for the analysis of topics of high importance in the specialty and the exposition of free topics.
Dr. Ariana González, president of the provincial chapter of the Cuban Society of Obstetrics, said that these meetings are a necessity at the present time when reproductive health is vital to ensure the survival of society.
The also member of the organizing committee for the event added that each day take place the births that are going to constitute the working population in 25 years, hence the need of an adequate monitoring and attention to the pregnant women and the newborn with a mother capable of breastfeeding.
In 2019 the Cuban Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology will hold its Congress, reason why it resumed the development of Territorial Days in the three regions of the Caribbean country.
