Ediciones La Luz publishing house marks Cuban Culture Day

The Ediciones La Luz publishing house, attached to the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS) in Holguín, develops on these days various activities such as book presentations, readings and talks, on the occasion of the Cuban Culture Day taking place from October 10 to 20.
Luis Yuseff, editor-in-chief of Ediciones La Luz, explained that these activities are inserted within the clubs of the institution such as “Entrada de emergencias ","Oda a la joven luz" and " Abrirse las constelaciones " , as well as the literary workshop "Contar con la luz", by the writer Adalberto Santos.
Entrada de Emergencias will dedicate its spaces to universal writers, including Anne Sexton, Oscar Wilde, Edgar Allan Poe, Arthur Rimbaud, Ezra Pound and Alfonsina Storni. It will also include the presentation of the books We will buy the city, verses by Allen Ginsberg, The Island of White Fish, an anthology dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Calendar Prize for Poetry, Animal of another race and stories by local writer Maribel Feliú, among others, he explained.
The program will also include the reading of poems included in the compilation “La joven luz. Entrada de emergencia", by various members of the AHS Literature Section, such as Karina Mora, Idania Salazar, Alejandro Batista, José Luis Laguarda, Erian Peña, Norge Luis Labrada and Robert Ráez.
For its part, Oda a la joven luz will debate on the work of universal authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Anne Sexton, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Rimbaud, Virgilio Piñera and Julián del Casal, in the voice of important Holguín intellectuals such as Manuel García Verdecia , the journalist and writer Rubén Rodríguez, and Carolina Gutiérrez, essayist and professor at the University of Holguín.
On the other hand, Luis Yuseff will present the collection “Abrirse las constelaciones” at the Provincial Center for Books and Literature, with the collection of poems Carne Roja, by Reynaldo Zaldívar; Poses, by Norge Luis Labrada, and Laminario, by Camilo Noa.
The Cuban Culture Day, which takes place each year from October 10 to 20 throughout the country, is dedicated this year to the centenary of the prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso, the 90-year-old singer Omara Portuondo, and the 50th anniversary of the creation of the cartoon Elpidio Valdés, produced by Frank Padrón.
