With regard to celebrating the 527 anniversary of the arrival of Admiral Cristóbal Colón, the Ibero-American Culture Festival Holguín-2019 extended its program of activities to the coast of Bariay, in the municipality of Rafael Freyre, where that historical event took place on October 28, 1492.
Delegates and guests to the 25th edition of the Festival toured the Aldea Taína near the beach of Guardalavaca, which treasures archaeological evidence of the existence of aborigines in those lands of eastern Cuba.
It was also carried out the unveiling of a commemorative plaque for the 25 years of these festivities and the delivery of the distinction Casa de Iberoamérica to representatives of this important cultural institution in the territory.
The program included the show Ambos Mundos performed by artists attending the Ibero-American Culture Festival, in which the traditions of different peoples such as Cuba, Haiti and Spain, among others, were represented.
These festivities began to take place in Holguín since 1993 with the participation of delegates from several countries, including Cuba, as a space to commemorate the meeting of the two cultures and discuss topics related to research in meetings such as the Congress of Thought, one of the main scenarios that distinguish the Ibero-American Fiesta.
The event takes place from October 24 to 30 with a program of activities that includes exhibitions, book presentations, conversations and filmmaking workshops, among other activities involving delegates from 16 countries, in addition to Cuba.
The main activities of the day in Bariay concluded with the call for the next edition of the event.
