National Research Prize José Manuel Guarch Delmonte delivered in Holguín

The 2020 National Research Prize José Manuel Guarch Delmonte was granted this Monday in Holguín to Rafael Mauro Ávila for the study "Science and Philosophy in René Herrera Fritot", as part of the 15th Ibero-American Congress of Thought, held virtually in this eastern city.
 
Composed of Nury de los Ángeles Valcárcel, Eduardo Ávila Rumayor and Eliel Gómez Martinez, the jury agreed that the research highlights the trajectory of the archaeologist and researcher of aboriginal culture, an eminent scientist who made recognized contributions in the area of craniometry and incorporated new methodological procedures.
 
Likewise, it consists of an adequate investigative profile and has a close relationship with the field of science practiced by Guarch, as well as an accurate treatment of the biographical and scientific references of the personality studied, for which it constitutes a consultation material for those who decide to delve into the subject.

 
The jury also announced the results of two new competitions, the "Guarch in Memoriam" and " Iberoamérica en nosotros ", where the Bariay studies deserved the awards. El San Salvador by Cristóbal Colón in 1492, by Cosme Casals Corella, and José Martí's inclusive emancipatory ideal for the construction of modernity in Latin America, by Dania Riverón Aguilera, respectively.

This year, it was also announced the results of two new contests organized by Casa de Iberoamérica: the “Guarch in Memoriam” and the “Iberoamérica en nosotros”, granted respectively to the researches “ Bariay. El San Salvador de Cristóbal Colón en 1492", by Cosme Casals Corella, and " El ideal emancipador inclusivo de José Martí para la construcción de la modernidad en América Latina” (The inclusive emancipator ideal of José Martí for the construction of modernity in Latin America), by Dania Riverón.

The research “ Bariay. El San Salvador de Cristóbal Colón en 1492" provides a characterization and analysis of the background that led to the founding of the Casa de Iberoamérica, and summarizes the main theses that from the cultural work, has defended this prestigious institution, whose first director was the speleologist, Cuban archaeologist and researcher José Manuel Guarch.

On the other hand, Dania Riverón's work highlights the validity of Marti's ideal and provides an anthropological look at his liberating thought, while highlighting the enduring essences of Latin American identity.
 
The National Research Prize José Manuel Guarch has been awarded since 2003 in the Ibero American Culture Festival, sponsored by the Honorary Chair of the same name, belonging to the University of Holguín and Casa de Iberoamérica, aimed at promoting the knowledge of archaeological, cultural, political, economic and historical issues.
