Cuba: Congress Debates on Drought and How to Face It

Measures to reduce risks of drought and how to face it will focus today the debates in the third day of the 10th International Congress on Disasters, being held in this capital until next Friday.
At the Convention Center, participants will also look for strategies to improve water quality and the education of new generations regarding the care for the vital liquid.
Information and promotion in cases of disaster will be another point of analysis for delegates to this venue.
During yesterday's session, Cuba presented a package of solutions on an early warning system to the Dominican Republic and St. Lucia, as part of South-South cooperation.
After receiving the package called Tool Box of Early Warning System in Cuba, the oficial responsable for the Emergency Operations Center of the Dominican Republic, Carlos Paulino, thanked the help given by the greater of the Antilles to his country in this area.
For his part, the representative of the World Food Program in Cuba, Laura Melo, praised the political will in the island for mitigation and facing disasters.
In the name of the United Nations' System, she thanked the organization of this event in Havana, which he considered of the utmost importance for the world and to understand its contribution to the international agenda of sustainable development.
