The Holguín Fishing Company (Holpes) was recognized with the Centennial Collective commemorative plaque for its outstanding productive and economic performance, which was presented at an official ceremony attended by the Minister of the Food Industry, as part of the celebrations for Fishing Workers’ Day and the centennial of Fidel Castro’s birth.

The Cuban government strongly rejected statements made Monday by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in which he claimed that Washington has taken no "punitive measures" against Cuba — despite the blockade in place for more than six decades and the ban on crude oil and fuel exports to the island, imposed under threat of reprisals by President Donald Trump last December.

The Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC), along with its national unions and the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR), today called for the celebration of May Day, International Workers’ Day, under the mobilizing slogan “The Homeland Defends Itself.”
